Congregational Church opens food pantry cupboard, welcomes donations

The Congregational Church of Grafton has opened a Food Pantry Cupboard at the church for the benefit of those who may find they are in need of additional food supplies.

“In this time of COVID-19, when the Grafton Food Bank is closed, the church is aware there are families who are food insecure,” the church wrote in a news release. “Please leave what you can, and take what you need. We welcome donations of canned food and dried foods. A small plastic bin is provided for rice, pasta, and cereals. Soups, stews, canned meats and tuna, fruits, vegetables, peanut butter, and jelly are suggested. The cans must be undamaged and have a valid expiration date.”

Noted Jessica Melo, president of the board for the Grafton Food Bank, “although the food bank is closed for normal distributions, we have been providing our clients each month with grocery store gift cards and also partnering with the schools and Houlden Farms to provide additional options as well. We are in the process now of working with the Board of Health and TA’s office to come up with a plan to re-open under modified operations.”

The church food pantry is located in a cabinet at the side door of the church, by the parking lot. The Congregational Church of Grafton is located at 30 Grafton Common, Grafton. Call the church office at 508-839-4513, or email graftonucc@gmail.com.

  • For the community during this difficult time.

Due to the Municipal Center closure and keeping the health & safety of our clients and volunteers a top priority, the Food Bank will continue to offer grocery store gift cards until further notice. We are currently working on a plan, with guidance from the Board of Health and town officials, to safely resume operations in a modified capacity.

Thank you to the Congregational Church for being an additional food resource for the community! If you have any questions or need further assistance from the Grafton Food Bank, please call 508-277-4535.
