Candidates are already applying for interim Grafton town administrator post
Grafton’s interim town administrator could be chosen as early as next Tuesday.
Select Board Chairman Peter Carlson said he has already received half a dozen resumes from potential candidates for the position, simply based on word-of-mouth after the July 31 separation between the town and former Town Administrator Tim McInerney.
“I think we need to make this discussion in a week, at our next meeting,” Select Board member Doreen DeFazio said.
“For me, we want someone that will hold the wheel steady for the next couple months,” Select Board member Mat Often said.
The board agreed the interim TA position should be advertised on the Massachusetts Municipal Association website, with a deadline of Monday for resumes. Those would be distributed to the Select Board, who will meet in a special meeting Monday to choose candidates to interview during Tuesday’s regular meeting.
The board also agreed that advertising must stress that the job is temporary and that the person hired will not be considered for the full-time role.
A recruiting firm will be hired to assist with the search for the permanent town administrator, working with a search committee.
Once the interim TA is hired, a Frequently Asked Questions section on the town website will explain the search process for the permanent position. The board is also considering starting a Facebook page dedicated to answering residents’ questions, similar to that used by the Grafton Public Schools to explain fall opening plans.
