‘A born frontman,’ Duran competes in Top 10 on ‘The Voice’

Can Ricky Duran continue to ride “The Voice” through another week?

It’s become routine in Grafton on Monday nights: 8 p.m., tune into “The Voice” on NBC. Close of show, vote vote vote for the Grafton native. (On Tuesdays, we watch the results show and cross our fingers that Duran has made it through to the next round).

“Excited to be showing a different side of me on the show tomorrow night!” Duran posted on his Facebook page Sunday. “Hope y’all ready!”

Duran has won praise from judges, hit the iTunes charts, and is predicted to go far in the contest. His show mentor, Blake Shelton, has said interest in Duran from people in the music business is very high.

“A born frontman, Ricky could almost get by on swagger alone,” tvline.com wrote in a story predicting the Top Four. “But he also has the vocal chops to back up his showmanship. He’s rarely, if ever, hit a bum note, and when he gets the right song (“Downtown Train,” say), he’s virtually unstoppable, performing with the casual confidence of an old pro whose control of his voice allows him to really kick some rasp.”
