The Grafton Senior Center is NOT offering COVID-19 vaccination

It’s unusual to correct another publication’s article, but the Grafton Senior Center has asked Grafton Common to address a Grafton News article published this week.

The Grafton Senior Center is not offering vaccinations for COVID-19, despite a Grafton News article claiming otherwise. It is not among the sites offering vaccinations for first responders, nor are there current plans to do so.

Incorrect blurb on the front page of this week’s Grafton News.

Lisa Kelley, outreach worker at the Grafton Senior Center, said local senior citizens were confused by the article.

The Grafton News printed this on their front page today. It is a false statement,” she wrote. “The Grafton Senior Center has no plans to administer the Covid-19 vaccine. With so much uncertainty regarding access to the vaccine, this will complicate and confuse senior citizens further. Please spread the word. This is a delicate issue already and the SC has been bombarded with seniors requesting vaccinations. Accidents happen, but this will have emotional repercussions.”

The article incorrectly cited information in a Telegram & Gazette article about local first responders receiving their first round of vaccinations from the Worcester Health Alliance. It was not caught before publication in the Grafton News, despite both publications being owned by Gannett Media.

Grafton Common, which is written by a journalist who is also only human, regrets the error.
