Grafton High Class of 2021 will take over the football field for graduation

The Grafton High School Class of 2021 will become the second class to graduate on the football field.

Graduation is set for Friday, June 4 at 6 p.m. on the main turf field, with a rain date planned for the following day. Unlike the Class of 2020, this year’s seniors have the benefit of knowing a successful outdoor graduation is possible during the COVID-19 pandemic — last year’s graduation was delayed until mid-July.

“Many decisions still  need to be made regarding some of the events we normally have in May and June and in the next couple of months we will begin to review our various events and determine the structure of them  based on current state guidelines on social distancing, etc.,” Grafton High School Principal Jim Pignatoro  wrote in a note to parents.

That means prom, class night, the senior trip, and other activities remain on the uncertain list. While those were canceled for the Class of 2020, vaccines now being rolled out may make some of the more social events possible.
