Cummings will rule Wednesday on school snow day
One of the top questions on parents’ minds this week: if Wednesday night’s forecasted snowstorm turns Grafton’s roads into a winter wonderland, does it mean a snow day or a day of remote school for everyone?
Superintendent of Schools Jay Cummings has made a ruling: even in the age of remote school, there are still snow days. And if the storm is as bad as predicted, there won’t be school on Thursday.
Seven to 10 inches are forecast for Wednesday night through Thursday morning in Southern Worcester County, according to the National Weather Service.
Cummings, in an email to parents, said he will make the call Wednesday afternoon (a blessing for parents who dread the early morning winter robo-calls).
“If we end up canceling school on Thursday, we will have a traditional snow day, which means we will not be providing remote instruction on that day,” Cummings wrote. “Assuming the forecast does not change substantially, I expect that we will need to cancel school on Thursday. If there are no significant changes, I plan on announcing that decision tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon.”
