Grafton Police Association is thinking pink for breast cancer
The Grafton Police Association is among more than 500 public safety agencies across the nation who support the Pink Patch Project #PinkPatchProject.
The Pink Patch Project is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.
It is estimated that approximately 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. This disease can have a profound impact on the patient and her loved ones. It is a disease however that can be effectively treated with surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy and chemotherapy.
The goal of this project is to increase education about the importance of early detection and prevention and to raise funds to further research, treatment, and care of those who are or have battled cancer. All proceeds from the sale of pink patches will benefit a non-profit organization that assists in cancer treatment, research and/or education.
During October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, uniformed personnel are allowed to replace the standard shoulder patch with the Grafton Police Pink Patch as a reminder of the commitment toward raising awareness.
The Grafton Police Pink Patches are $10 each. To purchase, stop by Grafton Police Headquarters or send a self-addressed stamped envelope with a check/money order for $10.00 made payable to the Grafton Police Association – Pink Patch Project, 28 Providence Road, Grafton, MA 01519. All proceeds from this year’s sales (2020) will be donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
