COVID-19 scare prompts Grafton Town Meeting move to Halloween — outside

Trick or treat? Fall Town Meeting has been postponed until Halloween, when masked political enthusiasts will gather on the Grafton High School football field.

Town Moderator Dan Concaugh came to the decision Friday morning on the urging of town officials, who worried his plans for an indoor Town Meeting on Monday could both keep voters from attending and lead to a COVID-19 super spreader event.

Town Meeting is now set for Saturday, October 31 at 2 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, November 1. While masks, as always during the pandemic, are required, costumes are optional.

A smaller set-up than June’s outdoor Town Meeting is expected, since the fall meeting usually brings a smaller crowd and Concaugh was hoping not to incur too much of an expense.
