It is with pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter of endorsement for Colleen Roy for Grafton Select Board. I have come to know Colleen over the past year as a fellow member of the Finance Committee. I can say unequivocally and without hesitation that Colleen is what the Select Board needs right now. I have worked in municipal government as a Town Manager for over 35 years and in all my years, I have never worked with or witnessed a more hardworking and dedicated individual than Colleen. She brings a work ethic that is second to none. Her enthusiasm has brought new life to the Finance Committee and new life is what the Select Board needs now more than ever. She researches issues thoroughly, asks the right questions and deliberates in a way that ensures any decision she makes will be in the best interest of the Town and not in her own self-interest.
After witnessing the current leadership on the Select Board over the last year, change is needed now more than ever. Grafton deserves better. We need leaders that will listen to all voices in Town and treat residents that have differing opinions with respect, not ridicule. We need leaders who will make informed decision based on facts and input from all sides. We need leaders with compassion and common sense. There is no doubt in my mind that Colleen Roy is the leader Grafton needs as we face one of the most difficult periods in Grafton’s History.
Please join me in voting for Colleen Roy for Grafton Select Board on June 23rd.
Sincerely,
Mark W. Haddad
I am pleased to submit this letter in support of Mat Often for one of your two votes for Grafton Select Board. I have had the pleasure of working with Mat over the last three years on the Finance Committee. I have witnessed first hand Mat’s deliberative and collaborative approach to issues. Mat does not let egos or personalities get in the way of doing the right thing. He puts Grafton first. As Chair of the Finance Committee, Mat has led the Committee through one of the most difficult budgets we have ever faced. His leadership skills have been on display as we have navigated the ever-changing world caused by the Pandemic. Mat’s calm demeanor and pragmatic leadership has allowed the Committee to focus on what’s important in reviewing and proposing an operating budget that will allow Grafton to continue to provide the excellent services our residents have come to know and receive.
Mat is not afraid to think outside the box when approaching issues. He has proved this over the last several months by trying to develop alternative budgets that meet the needs of the Town, while considering the impact to taxpayers. I know Mat will bring these skills to the Grafton Select Board. He will bring respect, collaboration, hard work and dedication to a Board that needs it now more than ever.
Please join me in voting for Mat Often on June 23rd.
Sincerely,
Mark W. Haddad
